I just solved my aperture priority lust with a nikon fm3a. I have an MP as well as an M6 and while the M6 is great, the brass body of the MP just feels so much better in operation. I find the M-A preferable because it forced me to rely on my eyes to meter a scene and become better at estimating light values. If you want new and truly repairable then look at the M-A (which is what I use myself) as there's absolutely no electronics inside which does mean you need to meter externally or don't worry about it and just go shoot. Yes the M7 is electronic, but so what, it will be repairable for a good long while as there's ample parts still around as it was only JUST discontinued. Both are going to be very satisfying cameras to own and use for many years. Like i said, I am not super experienced shooting pure manually, but it is also something I want to learn.Īll other things being equal, does anyone have any advice here? Easy answer is: There is no wrong choice here. My main concern is that I want something that will last/can be repaired down the line, and the all-electronic nature of the M7 has me second-guessing it, so I am also considering the MP, since its mechanical with a meter. ![]() ![]() Because of this, I am leaning towards the M7. My past shooting experience has been with SLRS that have aperture priority mode, which has been my main method for shooting. I'm looking to get my first leica, and I have the budget to get a nice body and lens, but im struggling between which body to get.
